Inspiration is everywhere. My Fall/Winter 2014 collection was inspired by my trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Georgia O’Keefe’s landscapes influenced my color palette for the season: merlot, slate, ecru and olive. Nature was color-blocked in O’Keefe’s eyes and throughout the collection, color-blocking is an important theme. Of course, lucite and pvc is the perfect material to recreate my own cubist homage to my favorite landscape.
A visit to the pueblos cemented my appreciation for Native American pottery. I had to interpret the graphic elementsfound in Zuni pottery and re-create it in haircalf and pvc.
The Chimayo weavers touched and inspired me with their designs. What sets them apart, is their ability to blend traditional patterns with modern themes and elements creating a new vocabulary of design and jaw dropping works of art.
Doesn’t that sound like my own design philosophy? I hope you’ll agree that this collection is a match made in SouthWest heaven!
